Happy Tuesday, Everyone!

We are very excited to get our blog up and running. It is always so much fun to find great information to share with everyone. I really like the idea of starting our week with a motivational article. The beginning of a work week can be difficult for a lot of people. We totally understand that! Although, if you start your week, or even your day, with a positive attitude you would be surprised about how much of a difference it can make. Not only in your personal life but your career as well.

According to James Reinhart of entrepreneur.com there are five simple things you can do in the morning to start your day off right!

1) He says 7 minutes of exercise is the perfect amount to start your day. According to James:

“It’s short enough that it won’t impact the rest of your morning routine and long enough to shake off any residual sluggishness from the night before.”

And he is right! If you do some jumping jacks, run in place or even a few planks, your mind will clear up. Which means, you are focused and ready to take on your workday.

2) Start your day green. In other words, make sure to have breakfast. Of course, he is not talking about an extra large bowl of Lucky Charms. As delicious as that may be (and it is) try a healthy alternative. Breakfast smoothies are always a quick and healthy option. And you can get your sweet fix as well. James suggested this recipe for a morning smoothie.

“I go quick and easy, blending (for about a minute): one apple, one banana, one orange, a handful of spinach, half of a cucumber, any juice or coconut water on hand, a few cubes of ice and some flax seed. It’s cheap, easy and energizing.”

Cheap, energizing and gets your metabolism going? Where do we sign up?!

3) This one is probably my favorite of all the options. James says to pick three wins for the day. You can even think of it while your smoothie is blending. Think about your day ahead. What three things do you want to get done? It could be work related, personal or anything in between. James makes a good point by saying:

“Sure, not every day will be an epic win, but strategizing in this way will help to move the ball forward.”

And he is right! These baby steps will create positive changes in your life for the long run.

4) Block your daily calendar to achieve wins. I know that I am a huge believer in this. It is so much easier to fall behind if you just dive head first into your day without planning it out. Allowing yourself 30 minutes, or however long it will take, for each of your “wins” will give you time to focus on that win and nothing else. It is also great because coworkers will know that you are focusing on that task right now and they will allow you your space.

5) Last but certainly not least, takes 15 minutes after lunch to power up. James says:

“Take the 15 minutes right after lunch to refocus on the day — a kind of professional meditation. Get away from your computer, turn it off, go sit in a conference room and determine what you have on tap for the rest of the day.”

And how right is he? Look at your schedule for the rest of the day and see what needs to get done. Prioritize calls, email and things of that nature. Make sure that you have a game plan for the rest of the day and I promise the day will fly and you will be heading home before you know it.

I will leave the link to James’s article at the bottom of the post. I encourage you to take a look at it. With these 5 simple steps you will be able to take on your day and accomplish so much. And better yet, you will feel great about it!

Have a wonderful week, everyone!
