To really build your dream team it takes 50% the perfect talent match and 50% the perfect personality match. The ideal members of these teams will have a mix experience, education and motivation. Recruiting highly motivated employees to staff these teams can be easy if you know what to look for in an employee. Let’s take a deeper look!

Highly motivated employees tend to share four key traits.

  • Pride -Not only do they take ownership of their position but they are proud and excited to speak about their work and the company. they take pride in the quality of their work.
  • Teamwork – The best team is one that has the same end goal and can work together as a strong unit. They readily share information and help their colleagues.
  • Intelligence – Highly motivated employees may not have years of experience, but can quickly learn what they need to know to get the job done and correctly. They will research, be one step ahead and ask questions.
  • Integrity – When errors occur, these employees admit their mistakes.

A group of highly motivated employees working together does not guarantee a successful team. There are three important ingredients to all successful teams.

  •  Leadership – In order for your team to work smoothly together everyone needs to have a strong work ethic and the same end goal. Successful teams need strong leaders that provide guidance, encouragement, support risk taking and enforce the rules of engagement. Leaders need to provide a clear vision and outline the goals of the team. If team members are unsure of their end goal, things tend to fall between the cracks.
  • Roadmap – Clearly defined goals can only be achieved if there is a plan in place. Specific tasks should be delegated, timelines established and progress measured. It is always a great idea to have weekly or monthly meetings to make sure everyone is on the same page.
  • Transparency – There needs to be 100% inclusion in all communications with the team. Having open communication is huge in your team’s success. Again, having meetings ever week or a few times a month will help with this.

Taking a group of highly motivated employees and placing them in a successful team dynamic will increase productivity, innovation and morale along with building a strong team and work culture. Work on leadership development, develop a roadmap and increase your transparency to build the productivity of your teams.
