For years I was the person who rarely took breaks and believed that working 12 to 15 hour days was productive and the best way to become successful. Yes, hard work and dedication does pay off; however, scientific research has proven that going too long without breaks and playtime actually burns you out and reduces your productivity. In recent years I have learned to walk away from my desk for short breaks and I’ve been amazed by what happens. I come back to my desk refreshed and motivated to get back on track. In addition, taking vacations, days off, and time to relax all go hand in hand with hard work and success. Plan your next day off and completely disconnect! You will be surprised to see what happens.
