Last week, we provided a couple of tips to help you set and keep your New Year’s goals. Below, you’ll find two final tips to help keep you motivated.

Treat Yourself. As you progress to a measurable benchmark, and especially when you’ve achieved a goal, reward yourself. Treating yourself when you attain your goal, and even along the way, can be very motivating. Treats don’t have to be big or expensive; just something that is meaningful to you. Sometimes people are motivated to keep their goals through negative rewards such as having to pay money to a friend if they miss a target or giving to a charity they don’t like. The negative reinforcement keeps them on track.

Have Accountability Partners. If you don’t tell anyone about your goals, you can easily stop working towards them whenever you lose motivation. Instead, ask a friend or co-worker to be your accountability partner. Keep your partner up to date on your accomplishments and they can update you on theirs. For some, having accountability through an online community is a better way to share goals, post accomplishments and get positive reinforcement along the way.

We hope these ideas give you inspiration to stick with your New Year’s goals. Happy New Year!
