It’s time to start looking for a new job, but where do you begin? There is a better chance your resume will reach the right person if you can send it to someone specific at the company. Using your connections works even better if you’ve kept in regular contact with them, rather than calling out of the blue when you need a favor.
Present the real you. When revising your job search tools, it’s OK to get a little creative. Go ahead and add some personality to your resume and cover letter, as long as you keep it professional. If you have any doubts, ask a friend or network colleague to read them over.
Use key words from the job posting. Without going overboard on the jargon or acronyms, use some of the words from the job posting in your resume. Companies use software that recognizes job-related words so why not give yourself the best chance of having your resume selected?
